Dentistry can be expensive!…
I should know. I’m a dentist. If you’re here, you’re probably someone who needs a dental appliance or know someone who does. You also probably looked at what it costs and had some sticker shock. I get it. I see patients every day who struggle to make dental work fit into their budgets. Many times when I recommend a patient have a custom dental appliance made, they simply can’t afford it and they turn to over the counter options. Sometimes they work, but many other times they are ineffective or even cause additional problems. I am here to tell you that there are many do-it-yourself options that can work for you. You just need the right information, which is what I will provide you here.
Quick disclaimer!.. Not all dentistry is do it yourself. In fact, I’ve known some dentists who are such cheapskates that they even tried drilling on themselves! Now we’re not suggesting that you should do anything like that but there are a lot of aspects of your oral health that can, and probably should try before investing in expensive oral appliances through your dentist.
If this sounds like something you are interested in, please read through our FREE resources to learn about Athletic Mouth Guards, Dentures, Grinding/Bruxism, Orthodontics, Snoring, Sleep Apnea, TMJ, and Whitening appliances. You’ll learn the science of who needs them, how these appliances work, the risks and benefits of using them, and in what situations you need to see a professional! For the appliances that you can buy over the counter, I also have reviews on what, in my professional opinion, are the best options.
For some appliances (specifically Grinding/Bruxism, TMJ, and Snoring appliances), I’m not a big fan of the current over the counter options. Because of how these problems need to be treated, a one size fits all solution generally doesn’t work very well. A much better option is making your own custom appliance at home as well as learning techniques to manage the problem. Our guides in the premium section provide detailed instructions on how to fabricate custom, professional level appliances that you won’t find ANYWHERE else. I have broken down everything I have learned in years of dental practice into easy to understand instructions so that you can get the BEST and LONGEST LASTING results at home and with a significant cost savings over what you would need to spend at the dentist. We have guides on TMJ pain, Snoring Treatment, and Grinding.
